Nancy Kirk received her BA from the University of Georgia, Athens and a MSW from George Mason University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). Nancy is completing specialty training as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT-Candidate) and enjoys working with adolescents and adults, specializing in trauma, drug, alcohol and process addictions. Nancy trained in Dance Motion Therapy (DMT) for body-based trauma resolution and counsels clients on using exercise for body-mind integration and relapse prevention.
Nancy served in the US Department of State Foreign Service and Homeland Security International Affairs as a Consular Officer and Asylum Officer. She lived overseas for eleven years in Spain, Tanzania, the former Soviet Union and Bolivia. Nancy speaks Spanish and Russian.
At Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital, Nancy worked with combat veterans in inpatient and outpatient Substance Use Disorders and Dual Diagnosis Programs. She facilitated substance abuse group therapy at the Loudoun County Detention Center, a federally qualified health clinic (FQHC), and Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital.
Nancy has almost a decade of experience addressing the impact of substance use on family members. She enjoys working with couples in struggling with addictions, infidelity, and betrayal trauma.
