Practice Policies

Insight Into Action Therapy is an outpatient private practice with locations in Ashburn and Fairfax, Virginia with telehealth options.. We provide:

  • Mental health therapy for adults, adolescents, and children
  • Treatment for addictive and compulsive behaviors
  • Couple and relationship therapy
  • Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and Medication for opioid use disorders (MOUD)
  • Psychiatric evaluations and medication management
  • Psychological and diagnostic evaluations
  • ASAP evaluation and treatment
  • Court ordered evaluation and treatment

We serve clients across the greater Washington DC and Northern Virginia metro area and offer both in-person and telehealth services in Virginia, Maryland, DC, and West Virginia. Insight  is an LGBTQ+ affirming practice.

Hours & Scheduling

Appointments are typically available between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., including some weekends, depending on the clinician.

  • Each therapist manages their own schedule
  • Session frequency and timing are coordinated directly between you and your therapist

Emergencies

Insight Into Action Therapy is not a crisis or emergency service.

  • If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or 988  or go to the nearest emergency department immediately
  • For urgent but non-emergency concerns, contact your therapist directly and they will respond as promptly as possible during business hours

Access & Appointment Availability

We recognize that most people reach out when things are already difficult.

  • We do not maintain a wait list
  • If someone is not available at the time of your call, a licensed therapist will return your call as quickly as possible, typically within business hours
  • We offer an intake appointments, often within 72 hours, depending on clinician availability

Cancellation & Missed Appointments

Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you.

  • We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment
  • Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, will be charged the full session fee

This policy applies to in-person and telehealth sessions.

Telehealth & Weather-Related Changes

We prioritize consistency in care.

  • We do not follow government or school system weather closures and will notify you if the office is closed
  • If you do not feel safe driving due to weather, your session can often be held via telehealth or rescheduled

Collaboration & Referrals

Many clients benefit from a coordinated treatment team. When clinically appropriate, we may collaborate with your current providers. 

With your written consent, our therapists may collaborate with and can refer you to outside:

  • Psychiatrists and prescribers
  • Primary care physicians and specialists
  • School professionals
  • Attorneys or probation officers
  • Sponsors, spiritual leaders, and other support resources
  • Higher levels of care like hospitals, residential facilities, or detoxification centers

Insurance & Out-of-Network Status

Insight Into Action Therapy is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance directly.

This model allows us to:

  • Protect your privacy by limiting required disclosures to third parties
  • Focus on individualized, clinically driven treatment rather than insurance-driven constraints
  • Reduce pressure to label or document  what is “medically necessary” for coverage

Superbills:

At the end of each session, we provide a Superbill that has the necessary information if  you chose to submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

TRICARE and Medicare clients:

If you have TRICARE or Medicare there is an additional form required to support reimbursement. Your clinician can provide guidance on what is needed.

Service Fees & Payment

  • Fees vary by clinician, experience, service type, and session length
  • Your clinician will review their specific fee structure with you before  your initial appointment
  • Payment is due at the time of service
  • We accept cash, check, and major credit cards

Any outstanding balances must be resolved promptly to continue services.
