Julie Fender is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) specializing in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and in treating anxiety, depression and adjustment issues with a Cognitive Behavioral approach. Her strength is her ability to create strong therapeutic relationships using a practical and authentic counseling process.
Julie received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Miami University in 1989, and her Masters in Counseling in Business and Industry degree from Ohio University in 1991. This positioned her to manage an employee assistance program (EAP) in Middletown, OH until 2003. As she continues to do EAP work and corporate training, she maintains her Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) credential.
In 2002, Julie began overseeing the counseling ministry at Centerpointe Christian Church. This allowed her to integrate her clinical expertise and her faith by offering counseling from a Christian perspective. She also taught seminars on marriage and family issues within the church and the community and facilitated groups in the areas of divorce and grief recovery.
Julie also started a private counseling practice in Mason, OH where she continued her clinical work with individuals and couples. While in private practice she expanded her EAP work and corporate training by presenting on a wide variety of mental health, marriage and family, and health and wellness topics to include: stress management, balancing work and life, teambuilding, respect in the workplace, substance abuse, time management, communication, conflict resolution, smoking cessation, healthy lifestyles, parenting, healthy relationships, and boundaries in marriage, love and respect.
In 2010, Julie and her family relocated to Northern Virginia where she continues her professional career in private practice.
